Reliance Group Secures 930 MW Solar and Battery Project

Reliance Power Limited’s subsidiary, Reliance NU Suntech Private Limited, has secured a Letter of Award (LOA) from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 930 MW solar power project and a 465 MW/1,860 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This project marks the establishment of Asia’s largest grid-storage battery project, excluding China.

SECI Project Award: A New Chapter for Solar and Battery Energy in India

This project was won through an e-reverse auction held on December 9, 2024, symbolizing progress in integrating solar energy with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in India.

  • Ensures reliable four-hour peak power supply.
  • Reduces DISCOMs’ dependence on expensive power exchange rates.

Under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Reliance NU Suntech will develop this project on a build-own-operate model, distributing the generated power to DISCOMs across the country.
